Your Carson City insulation contractor since 2017

Silver HVAC ducts run beneath a ceiling coated in pale spray foam insulation, supported by metal framing.

Why I traded a desk for an attic

I put in years at a desk job before I admitted I'd rather be up in an attic with a flashlight and a tape measure, and no attic has ever sent me a meeting invite. I learned the trade on an insulation crew around Carson City, then started J&K Carson City Spray Foam Insulation in 2017 so I could do the work the way I thought it should be done.

Most people who call us have a cold room or a drafty house, and we hear from landlords and business owners too. What I care about most is doing things in the right order and being honest when your house doesn't need what someone's trying to sell you, which is why we're known for explaining what's going on in a house before we touch anything. We're based in Carson City and work across the cities around it, from Reno and Sparks down to Gardnerville and up to Incline Village, plus plenty of places in between.

What you can count on when we come out

We're fully licensed and insured, and the promise we make is simple. Your satisfaction, guaranteed. Here's what that looks like once we're at your house.

I look at your house myself

I do the estimate visits myself and go into the attic, crawl space or walls with you, so you see what I see. If your house only needs a little help, I'll tell you that straight, because sometimes the honest answer is a small fix.

Problems found before they get buried

Before we add anything, we look for what shouldn't end up under insulation, like old wiring, a roof leak or a fan venting into the attic, and tell you what to fix first. Then we seal the gaps around pipes, lights and the hatch, because new insulation over a draft is money spent on a house that still feels chilly.

One opinion across foam, blown-in and removal

We do spray foam, blown-in insulation, which is loose fill we blow through a hose, plus crawl spaces and old insulation removal, so we've got no reason to push one product on every house. Foam costs more and seals air as it insulates, but in most attics sealing the gaps and topping up the loose fill is the better buy unless your ductwork runs up there, and you can see everything we do from our home page.

What happens after you reach out

Here's how a job goes with us, from your first call to the day the crew packs up.

  1. Call or send the form

Call (775) 227-5588 or fill out our contact form, and we'll reply within one business day. Most of the time it's me calling you back, so your questions go straight to the person who'll be up in your attic.

  2. Walk the house with me

I come out for a free estimate on site, with no obligation, and look at the attic, crawl space or walls with you. The price usually turns on how many inches are already up there, whether old material has to come out, how much sealing the house needs and which material fits, and I go over all of it before you decide anything.

  3. Check the permit rules for your address

The rules differ between Carson City, the counties and the cities around us, so we check with the office that covers your address. In Carson City that's the city's Building Division, and if your job needs a permit, we handle the paperwork with them.

  4. Let our installers do the work

Our installers do the job, with a lead installer running each one so you've got one person to ask while we're there. When it's finished, I'd rather explain too much than leave you wondering what we did up there.

Have us take a look at your house

A free on-site visit tells you what's already in your attic and walls before you spend anything on new insulation.

If there's a cold room or a drafty corner you've been putting up with, we'd be glad to hear about it.
